American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Palo Alto is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Palo Alto follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

From far the best quality chocolates in the area. Not so great packaging though, when you do not grab a pre-boxed selection. Their boxes are quite deep, with no seperators to layer chocolates in them. The very friendly staff tried their best, but to fill any size of their cube-like boxes means piling those beautiful chocolates of various shapes apharzedly on top of each other. Please plan for small carboard separators or flat boxes. I ended up gifting 2 medium-size boxes to the same person, so there was 2 layers of chocolates that wouldn't be damaged in transport.

Walking by, a woman was exiting the Laderach shop breaking off a bit of chocolate to eat. The power of suggestion, right? I stepped towards the entrance and a staff member presented me with a piece of milk chocolate with whole hazelnuts in the bar. That’s it! That’s my downfall. Deliciously smooth Swiss chocolate ..yum yum! I bought some of the bars broken off from the large blocks. The one I chose has ground pistachios and flaky phyllo pieces… the Dubai chocolate! Just in time for Mother’s Day (5/10/26) or Teacher Appreciation Day (5/8/26). Guess I’ll have to come back tomorrow in case this Dubai chocolate doesn’t make it to my Mom or the teacher at school 🎁 :) chocolate is the best gift!

My wife and I absolutely love Läderach, it’s hands down our favorite chocolate, and we’ve been loyal customers at their Stanford Shopping Center location for a long time. Yesterday, while we were in LA, we picked up one of their Easter gift boxes as a gift. Unfortunately, with the heat and a bit of oversight on our part, we left it in the car, and the bunny chocolates basically melted into a blob. Today I went to the Stanford Shopping Center location just to see if anything could be done, even though I didn’t expect much since it was from a different store and honestly our mistake. To my surprise, the store manager, Maria Navarro, went above and beyond. She kindly offered to replace the bunny shaped chocolates, even though it meant her store would have to absorb the cost. That level of generosity really stood out. This experience only reinforced why we love Läderach - not just for the incredible quality of their chocolate, but for the people behind the brand. Thank you, Maria, for turning a disappointing situation into such a positive one!

This store has so much to offer… delicious chocolate and gift items. It's quite inviting, and there's Nadia, she's handing out samples. She named and described it. You knew that they were highly trained and ready to assist to everyone. It's a lovely store to visit for delicious gift-giving on any occasion.

I got a box of truffles and some chocolate bars from Läderach, and everything was excellent. The truffles were rich and delicious, and the chocolate bars had a delicate texture where you can really taste the high-quality cocoa and flavorful nuts. The store is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality makes it worth it. The staff was friendly and even offered me some samples. I definitely recommend it!
